Stunning monitor for quality of display, color calibration, and feature set
I had to write a review on this monitor, it's such an amazing 4K monitor for both the level of performance it offers and the price point. I'd done a lot of monitor shopping prior to purchase and basically was convinced that 4K was the way to go. Being a devoted amateur photographer and budding astrophotographer, I knew I wanted something that offered the ability to calibrate colors accurately. I also do a lot of work in front of a screen in general, so wanted a monitor that also offered crisp text and that "4k" experience. So chose the VP2785-4K, and mostly pair it with a Macbook Pro (2016 model with the USB-C ports). It's incredible! The USB-C connector (provided in the box) works flawlessly, no need to purchase an extra charging/data USB-C cable. The monitor provides plenty of power to keep the Macbook charged over the USB-C connection. I bought a Rain Design vertical stand for the Macbook (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077YLS9QP), super setup for maximizing deskspace with the monitor.Still exploring the color calibration options, but very impressed with both the pre-calibrated settings and ability to fine tune (via software or hardware calibration). For me though, it's just as important to have clarity viewing photographs and that's a highlight of this monitor as well. The KVM feature works fine, basically connecting two monitors and splitting the screen in half for each. I use a the Logitech multichannel bluetooth keyboard and mouse and that works great to switch control from one computer to the other. Also nice is having the collection of ports available (USB 3.1 Type A(3), USB 3.1 Type B(1), USB 3.1 Type C(1), 3.5mm Audio Out, HDMI 2.0 (2), Display Port(1), Mini Display Port(1)), so basically for me the monitor also functions as a docking station.I didn't buy this as a gaming monitor, but since you can set the response time of the monitor to 7MS if you want, it seems fine for the few games I tried out on it. But Viewsonic and others make 1MS response time monitors if you're looking for a gaming monitor. One other item I like are the adjustment options. Height and side to side angle (it swivels on the base) work fine, as well you can adjust the monitor to either landscape or portrait mode. This is a really well thought out monitor in terms of features and overall it's the best display quality-wise I've ever used. I suspect that a pro photographer/videographer would thrive with this monitor as well. Highly recommended.

This monitor is ideal for coding
I use this as my primary monitor for coding. I love the color accuracy and brightness. All IDE look fantastic on it. I reduced the amount of wires 50% by switching to this monitor.I plugged all peripherals to the monitor's upstream USB:* Logitech unified receiver (mouse and keyboard).* Logitech web cam.* USB 3 hub.Computers:* Connected my legacy PC workstation via its DisplayPort (v1.2) to the DisplayPort on the monitor (v1.4); USB 3 down cable (for data).* Surface Book (via USB-C); which I alternate with MacBook Pro (also USB-C/Thunderbolt 3).The KVM feature is misrepresented in the docs for this monitor:* Switching the input on the monitor makes all peripherals available to that station.* You do not need a USB-C connection for this to work -- mini DisplayPort with a dedicated USB-down connection is enough (I didn't try DisplayPort 1.4 -- which may also route data, just like USB-C connection, minus power).Other:* I get full UHD desktop experience even on my old PC -- AMD Radeon R9 280X works great in the desktop environment.* Enjoying full HD (1080p) gaming -- things look great.* I tried connecting my old rig to mini DisplayPort (+ downstream USB) while Surface Book to DisplayPort (via USB-C to DisplayPort cable) and Macbook Pro to USB-C. When switching inputs, Surface Book couldn't see any peripherals. I guess, you can't connect 3 computers at once and share peripherals. Oh, well. I'm still happy.* It's gonna be interesting to try this monitor in UHD gaming or with a newer card capable of DisplayPort 1.4 spec (that's as high as this monitor will go).All in all, I'm happy I got this monitor. I wish they had more USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 connections.

Viewsonic = Ultimate in Garbage Monitors
The review is informed with my experience having to work/manage with several of the so called design and graphic series monitors by Viewsonic including this one on several projects - starting with various models from 2012 to present. The primary use was for photo and video applications.Without going into technical details, in summary they all eventually developed at least two of the the following issues or came with these defects out of the box:(1) High propensity for developing dead pixels after few month of use.(2) Quite nasty bleeding issues.(3) Inconsistent and non-uniform color issues across the screen. While color inaccuracy in these class of monitors are to be expected, Viewsonic takes the helm.(4) Same model monitors didn't match the other one on a dual set up, no matter how exacting the calibration process in the same environment. Often I found tint issues that couldn't be corrected with the top of the line calibration procedures as well as top of the line external devices. Also because of its VERY poor viewing angle and engineering (in spite of what they have advertised under specs), if you are thinking about setting up dual or triple set up with these, you will notice visible differences in the way content is displayed, mainly in the tint and brightness department. I find out that in practice, the monitors falls way below the standards you expect for their specified viewing angle in dual set ups. This is true even when it is placed at the appropriate distance from the user.(5) Screens easily developed and retained permanent internal areas of scuffs from pressure points as gentle as cleaning or picking them up or removing the base to install the unit on an arm. Very flimsy overall.(6) Very poorly situated ergonomics for critical buttons for changing the menu settings.Be aware that The Viewsonic also repackages and resells returned units here listing them as used and claim they all have been checked and verified for functionality. None have. They almost all have issues so beaware of the lure of low prices.Furthermore, the customer service of Viewsonic from their website is totally disconnected from that of Amazon, meaning they can't look up or answer inquiries about any sales here. Tthey have some of the worst customer support you are likely to find, not just in knowledge department, but also policies. You are likely responsible for returning the unit insured and beyond their limited warranty, you will be quoted a repair bill that exceeds the value of the garbage in the first place.BOTTOMLINE: There is a reason it is offered at a lower price, in spite of seemingly having many features available in the more expensive units. Even if some turn out to be ok out of the box, very likely issues will follow soon and most likely after the return window has been closed. If you are serious about photo/video applications and want to get the best out of your investment before the next major upgrade in the line of monitors come on the market, pass on the Viewsonic brand.

Now works with Apple Silicon
Just a quick review to say that ViewSonic have now released a version of vDisplay Manager than works with Apple Silicon, and since purchasing the monitor in the summer, macOS Monterey appears to have ironed out some USB-C monitor bugs, so overall this is a much smoother experience and the previous review regarding not being compatible with M1 Macs no longer applies.Overall I'm very happy with it, especially the colour reproduction, even though I mostly use it for technical (non photographic) use. Its ability to display near-luminous colours is amazing, something you don't appreciate until you've seen a full RGB (not sRGB) monitor.
