Collins Italian Dictionary (Collins Language)

It is what it what it is! I don't know if it is better or worse than any other Italian dictionary as this is the first one I've seen.

I have been a long time "studentessa Italiana" and was looking for a concise portable Italian dictionary that I could rely on but also did not want to add much addtional weight to my bag when traveling. Well....I found this Collins dictionary to be quite portable and still covers over 40,000 entries. I currently own two Oxford Dictionaries, although they are the best but both are too heavy to use for travel. Another excellent dictionary is from Amsco Publications but it has not been updated. The only down side of the Collins book is the quality of the pages. They are like newsprint and are rather thin. If you are willing to overlook that part, then this book would be a great choice for travel and "un buon marcato".

It's a good little dictionary of handy size. but not the easiest print. I think it is not for rough handlers (like me) and mightdisintegrate after a while.

My Aunt speaks Italian & loves this book

I bought it to replace Mondadori's(1971) in similar format, but it doesn't. E.g., it defines "falegname" as "joiner" (what the hell is that? British?) while the old one defines it as "carpenter," which fits the context exactly. It also lacks some older words but includes some newer ones. I'd rather have one big dictionary than these two.Tom C

Quality of the paper is third class

This can make you go to Italy and easily translate all the words that you would want to say. Very simple and easy to use.
