NOT stainless steel
This is NOT stainless steel. I do not care one bit what the exterior is made out of, what is my food touching? As soon as I took it out of the box, I smelled an awful teflon-like chemical smell that I have never smelled on any of my ceramic crock pots before. The insert is a very thin, bumpy coating over what is likely aluminum. I would not eat anything that was cooked in this, regardless of whether or not it functions like a crock pot. I got it in order to avoid teflon. They shouldn't say it's stainless steel if it isn't.

LOVE this big boy !! Just what I needed.
I cook a lot as it's one of my hobbies. I do NOT like to run out of room in my crock pot, and this Magic Mill is perfect.I had been using a 7 qt stone crock and sometimes would run out of room, leaving the mandatory 3/4" space at the top for the bubbles and all. I went to use that again, and was surprised to find the stone material had cracked! I have not actually filled this with water to verify the 10 QT capacity claim, but from my extensive experience with several of these over the years, I don't doubt that figure at all. Even the eyeball test told me it's WAY bigger than my 7 QT. About the same width and depth as my 7 QT but is taller - is where you pick up capacity. This way it doesn't take up your entire counter.I LOVE the lightweight inner liner that is coated steel and not heavy stone material. It gets cooking much faster than the stone material, is FAR easier to handle in the sink to wash it down, and washing the liner was effortless and it cleaned up very easily!! I do not understand how anyone can downgrade this unit over the ever so slightly textured liner coating that the human finger can barely tell is textured at all. I LOVE IT and I bet I cook more than you do.Another plus is that on LOW heat, it's not as hot as my last one was but still at cooking temp. Some here complained about food regs or something that crock pot makers had to raise their temp setting on the LOW setting and that it tended to cook at a higher heat than was desired on LOW. Doesn't seem to be a problem with this one.Overall after using this Magic Mill 10 QT crock pot with a special coated steel liner 3 times now, I LOVE IT!! If you are not cooking an entire pork shoulder or two or corned beefs with all the taters, cabbage and carrots/onions - and don't need all the extra room this one offers, so what!! So you have more room at the top. Who cares? If I was buying my first crock pot, it would be THIS one! I don't need the gimmicky timers and delayed cook starts and all that some models offer which is just more stuff to malfunction. For older people you will LOVE not having that 10 pound stone crock pot to wash that if you aren't careful can break.I did buy the extended warranty because it was cheap enough to not worry about the cost. Hope I don't need it.This IS a winner, folks.

Does the Job
We bought this 10 quart slow cooker to make beef bone broth. We have used it weekly for the last 30 days. It performs exactly to our needs. We cook on high our broth ingredients for 24 hours. The control settings on this unit are simple low, high and warm. The simplicity allows the cooker to cook uninterrupted. Our other pot would time out before 24 hours. I measured the water volume when empty and it is 10 quarts. I do not use it for anything else so no opinion but for broth making it is perfect. The picture shows 3.5 quarts of finished broth because my husband drank some.

Love how lightweight the insert is
When I purchased this crock pot, I saw a few complaints about the fact that the insert piece isn't actually stainless steel. That concerned me, but I purchased it anyway. I'm so glad I did - because I actually love that the insert is so lightweight. It makes cleaning it so much easier than my old heavy crockpots. The heat is also really good on this crockpot. I once had a stainless steel one that I purchased a few years ago that would burn my food. It was the only crockpot that ever burned stuff, so I ended up throwing it away. This one is perfect for me.

Cooking while you spend the day enjoying yourself...
The cooker came with pre-use instructions and cooking tips, not recipes. Following these instructions made using this large crock pot the first time a joy. I have used it several times since I received it; both for simple meals and more involved Carbonnade a la Flamande of wild boar and Carbonnade a la Flamande of bison (bison stew) the size of the crock pot makes it far easier to cook for my family and friends hearty appetites. The best thing is you are able to cook healthy meals while spending the day enjoying yourself or while at work. The light weight insert is easy to clean without needing slow cooker bag liners. Highly recommended!

LOVE IT!!!
I LOVE this slow cooker. I can make my stew in it with plenty of headspace. No boil overs and I love that the insert is stainless steel and not ceramic as the ceramic makes it difficult to lift when full. I also don’t have to worry if I drop it that it will break.

Cooking for a large crowd
Used it at Christmas for a 16 lb ham. Worried it wouldn’t fit, but it did! Must have size when cooking for a bigger crowd.

Glass lid shattered. Otherwise unit works well.
Had product approx 6 months now. Purchased for the size. Makes double what a normal size crock pot would make. Used it quite a bit. Temp is good and warm setting a plus. However, last week I made some expensive Irish stew and slow cook over night to find in the morning the glass lid had shattered all into this food which I threw away. This was very disappointing. I would not recommend this product due to risk of glass lid shattering.
